PFA Player of the year nominations

It’s that time of year again where we look at which individual has performed the best for their club this season. With so much talent on show in the Premier League, it can be difficult choosing just one but it’s time to look at each of the 6 nominees and give a rating out of 10 to see whose most likely to win this season’s PFA award.

  • Eden Hazard

The Belgian has had another incredible season, similar to his 2014/15 season, which he also guided Chelsea to the League title. It looks likely that Chelsea will grab the league again this season and Hazard is a huge part of that. The attacking midfielder has been fresh due to no European football and has been able to score 14 league goals and 5 assists this season. With goals against Manchester United, Manchester City & Arsenal, he isn’t afraid of stepping up in big games. Don’t be surprised to see the Belgian win his 2nd PFA award in 3 years.

Hazard has had an exceptional season.

  • Zlatan Ibrahimović

35-year-old Zlatan has defied all his critics again with a brilliant first season in English football. The Manchester United striker has scored 28 goals in all competitions this season, including 17 League goals in 27 appearances. With 5 assists and a player of the month award for December, the Swede could silence his critics again by picking up the PFA award to add to his already bulging trophy cabinet.

Zlatan has carried United at times this season.

  • Harry Kane

The Spurs striker has proven again why he’s one of the best strikers in the Premier League. With 19 goals in just 23 appearances this season, the Englishmen could very well pick up the award. He may not get the golden boot again like last season due to injuries disrupting his season but with 3 hat-tricks this season, he still could Spur his side to the title and pick up the PFA award.

Kane could help lead Spurs to the title.

  • Romelu Lukaku

The Everton man has been scoring goals for fun this season and is currently favourite for the golden boot as he sits top of the goal scoring charts with 23 goals. His performances this season have hinted a move away from Merseyside but with the Belgian’s current performances he should be able to help Everton finish in the top 7 and maybe even pick up double individual awards, come the end of the season.

Lukaku is the current top scorer in the Premier League.

  • N’Golo Kante

The French genius has had the whole world talking this season as he’s continued his performances from last season, now with Chelsea. Looking set to be the first player to win back to back titles with different teams since Eric Cantona in the early 90’s, Kante now looks the favourite to win the award as some say he was unlucky to lose out to team-mate Mahrez last season. If Kante does win this season’s PFA award it would be thoroughly deserved.

Kante is now the favourite to win the PFA award this season.

  • Alexis Sanchez

The Arsenal winger started the season superbly and was one of Arsenal’s main men scoring 18 goals to keep the pressure on Lukaku for the golden boot. With 9 assists too this season, the Chilean has showed his all-round contribution. His season has tailed off a bit as has Arsenal’s with them currently sitting in 6th. Perhaps the contract talks are affecting him but it would be a shock now if Sanchez was still able to win the PFA award.

Sanchez isn’t far off the golden boot.

  1. I reckon Kante will pick up the player of the season award and Dele Alli the young player of the season awards. However, I feel that Dele Alli should have been included in the main nominees list rather than Harry Kane because Dele really has had a scintillating season this term…check out my post on the pfa player of the year accolades here…and folllow if you like it
