Tottenham Hotspurs have always been known as a cup club and have never really been seen as a threat in the English league. In fact, they have never won the Premier League and the last time they did win the league was the old first division of English football, way back in the 1960-61 season. Despite this, Spurs have had some very decent sides over the years and some stand out individuals but have never been able to win the Premier League.
What makes Spurs likely to win the league? Their combination of Attacking and defending is beautiful to watch at times and their midfield brings the perfect balance also. With one of the best defensive records last season and this season, it is clear to see Spurs have a defence worthy of winning the hardest League in the world. Last season’s Premier League top scorer; Harry Kane also has 84 goals in all competitions in the last 3 seasons, showing his prolific goal-scoring skills which are needed to win the Premier League. The mix of experience and young talent in the midfield also helps create the perfect balance.
Spurs have been unstoppable at times this season
We look at the 5 players in the Spurs team who will be the main orchestrators to Spurs winning the league within the next 3 seasons (including this season).
Harry Kane (Striker)
This one is obvious. Kane puts the hot in Hotspurs. Like mentioned above, 84 goals in all competitions for Spurs over the last 3 seasons, highlights his talent. Still only 23, he will be so crucial to Spurs in the next few years and at times, even carries Spurs. If Spurs have any chance of winning the league in the next 3 seasons, they must keep hold of Kane and not allow one of the big boys to tempt him away from White Hart Lane.
Kane’s goal-scoring record will lead Spurs to the title.
Dele Alli (Attacking-Midfielder)
Dele is another obvious one. In only his second season in the Premier League and for Spurs, the young England international has already proved why he’s one of the best players in the league. Last season he picked up the PFA Young player of the year award in his first season in the top flight and surely, he’s in the running again this season for both PFA player awards. He has already scored 14 goals in the league this season with 4 assists. He is a future star for Spurs and England and like Kane, Tottenham will need to hold on to him in order to win the league.
Dele Alli has a bright future ahead of him.
Hugo Lloris (Goalkeeper)
The spurs captain will be crucial to them winning the league in the next 3 seasons. He has bags of experience, an international regular for France and is now one of the best keepers in the Premier League and the world. Lloris has only conceded 20 goals all season in the Premier League and with 11 clean sheets in the league this season his superb stops and leadership could help Tottenham lift their first league title in over 50 years.

Toby Alderweireld (Central Defender)
Arguably the best central defender in the league over the past 2 seasons, the Belgian has a no-nonsense approach to defending and along with fellow countrymen Vertonghen, the Spurs defence rarely concedes goals. This season, Alderweireld boasts impressive stats of 26 tackles won, 14 interceptions, 17 blocks and with only 1 defensive error all season, this type of defensive leader is crucial to winning a league title.

Moussa Dembele (Central Midfielder)
Another no-nonsense Belgian who is quite underrated in the Spurs side. Not one that some may look to straight away but is easily one of the first names on the Spurs team sheet. With 48 tackles, 19 interceptions, 91% pass completion and 16 key passes this season in the Premier League, he is Spurs’ Mr. Reliable and will be vital to their chances of winning the league.
Kyle Walker – The full-back has been one of the best in Europe this season and his pace and contribution will be crucial. With speed and his ability to cross and defend he will be a useful asset. Stat: Walker has won 48 tackles, made 31 interceptions and created 35 chances this season.
Danny Rose – The other full-back is just as crucial and his mixture of defending and attacking will take Spurs all the way. Like walker, his mixture of talents help balance out the Spurs side in all areas of the pitch. Stat: Rose has won 35 tackles, made 25 interceptions and created 26 chances this season.
Christian Eriksen – The Danish midfielder will be imperative to Hotspurs having a chance to win the league. Eriksen works tirelessly to make his side tick and holds impressive stats this season. With 69 key passes, 10 assists, 79 chances created and 6 goals, the midfielder creates a huge amount of Spurs’ goals while also chipping in with his own. Spurs will need to keep hold of the talented midfielder.
